Units of Inquiry & Learning Experiences
Inquiry-based learning is at the core of the IB Primary Years Programme at Our World Neighborhood Charter School Elementary School. Students learn through meaningful exploration that connects academic knowledge to real-world contexts, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and deep understanding across subject areas.
Our school environment reflects this commitment to inquiry. Key concepts, Learner Profile attributes, and transdisciplinary themes are visible throughout the building. Bulletin boards showcase grade-level Units of Inquiry, highlighting student thinking, learning journeys, and authentic work. A central Program of Inquiry wall displays the themes explored at each grade level, while individual classroom inquiry walls feature current themes, central ideas, key concepts, Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, and student work connected to transdisciplinary learning.

Learning extends beyond individual classrooms through interdisciplinary experiences that involve both grade-level teams and special area teachers. Through these integrated Units of Inquiry, students make connections across disciplines, deepen their understanding, and engage in meaningful learning experiences that support both academic growth and lifelong learning skills.
